Great article Gavin, I'm a total fan of colour. I had the chance to browse through Harry's NY book in Paris a couple of months ago and it definitely went to my wishlist. I just didn't buy at the time because I brought home 3 books harder to find and more expensive to order from abroad.

I used to use the big baskets of colourful chillies at Bangkok street markets as a way to introduce students to the theory of colour and negative space. It had the added benefit that it provided a reason to speak with the stall holders – and a portrait session often followed.

The client rejected the concept, ‘we are not a Hindi restaurant’ was the remark he made. I told the ad agency I cannot work with such a client.. Very offensive.
