Great post Gavin - I'm glad I took the time to slow down and read it - and notice new things. Really appreciate the time and thought (and photos!) you put into these.

Thank you, Christine. That's lovely to know and I appreciate the encouraging feedback. Hope all is well with you. Cheers!

Engagement? You got me with the first photo of the elephant, then on to Mary Oliver, and then to your sharing about your assignment and how you adapted it plus the results. I'm not surprised that most everyone is bent forward with vision narrowed to a little screen holding a world of fantasy and elsewhere-ness. A sad truth about "us". Lately I've been listening for what's hiding in plain sight. Bird sounds mostly but so many other sounds that tell me a story about something I cannot see. Thank you for all you share.

Thank you, Lasell. I love the idea of listening to what's hiding in plain sight, especially with birdsong. I know that I could spend more time doing nothing but listening, even for a few minutes at a time. I'm going to introduce that to my daily routine. Cheers!

Hi Gavin - I will be in Arles from 18 July. Too late to meet and have a coffee or a glass of wine! I hope you enjoy it - it is a great event (and a charming little town)

Best

Vincent

That's a pity, Vincent. Perhaps our paths will cross on another occasion. If you have any favourite cafes/restaurants in Arles that you'd recommend...

I hope you have a great time too. Cheers!

First things first : on arrival, go to Louis Vuitton and buy their guide to Arles - plenty of good tips. If you stay at L'Arlatan, you will receive a free copy.

A few ideas:

Light Lunches : L'épicerie du Cloître, Annie Collectors Gallery, the LUMA (Terrasses du Parc), the terrasse of the Nord Pinus Hotel (if they are open - they have been in renovation works for a while)

Diner : l'Epicerie du Cloître, l'Arlatan, le Chardon, Inari, le galoubet

Yummy !

Thanks, Vincent. There's enough to get me through the week. I've made notes and put pins in my map. Looking forward to my week in Arles even more now. Cheers!

Try chez la belge as well for lunch:)

I made the mistake of looking at their Instagram account and now I'm craving focaccia. 😁
